One of the “fathers” of Speculative Fiction is a Frenchman named Jules Verne. He was a prolific writer and one of the most translated authors in history. SF writing since Verne, though, has been dominated by English-language stories. In the SF world, if your name isn’t Stanislav Lem or Mikhail Bulgakov, chances are your work will never be translated, especially for English-language readers.
The goal of this blog is to shed some light on SF stories from outside the Anglo realm, whether they have been translated or not. In the case of stories that have not yet been translated this blog will, for the time being, mainly focus on works originally written in French or German.
Who am I exactly? My name is Benjamin Hedley, a student of translation, and a devoted fan to SF and other genres of fiction. It is my goal to bring great stories in translation to an English readership.
